Organisation Background: Centre for Eye and Vision Research Limited (CEVR) is a research collaboration between The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the University of Waterloo (UW) in Canada. It is located at the Hong Kong Science Park, Pak Shek Kok, New Territories. The centre operates a clinical and a wet laboratory which houses cell culture, animal experimentation, mass spectrometry and other clinical facilities in eye research. Ground-breaking research in five key areas – myopia and eye growth, ocular drug discovery and delivery, vision enhancement, tear film and ocular surface and advanced optometric technology will be carried out in the lab. The mission of CEVR is to generate technologies to prevent vision loss in the aging population and preserve healthy vision. |
Required Skills and job duty: The appointee will report directly to the Centre Senior Manager and perform functions supporting the administration of CEVR. |
Duties:
(a) provide administrative support to a wide range of matters pertinent to the CEVR; (b) support procurement process; (c) provide administrative support to research projects; (c) handle information flow and maintain an effective record system; (d) liaise with internal and external parties, and handle enquiries; and (e) perform any other duties as assigned by CEO and Scientific Director as well as COO and Deputy Scientific Director of CEVR and/or their delegates. |
Qualifications:
Applicants should: (a) have a recognised degree with at least two years of relevant post-qualification experience; (b) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage; (c) have hands-on computer skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Chinese word processing; (d) have good communication and interpersonal skills; (e) be a good team player, and be proactive and dedicated to work; (f) have a positive can-do attitude; and (g) be willing to work outside normal office hours as deemed necessary.
