Organisation Background:Centre for Eye and Vision Research Limited (CEVR) is a research collaboration between The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the University of Waterloo (UW) in Canada. It is located at the Hong Kong Science Park, Pak Shek Kok, New Territories. The centre operates a clinical and a wet laboratory which houses cell culture, animal experimentation, mass spectrometry and other clinical facilities in eye research. Ground-breaking research in five key areas – myopia and eye growth, ocular drug discovery and delivery, vision enhancement, tear film and ocular surface and advanced optometric technology will be carried out in the lab. The mission of CEVR is to generate technologies to prevent vision loss in the aging population and preserve healthy vision.
Required Skills and job duty: The appointee will report to the Administration Manager (Finance) for providing procurement and accounting support in the centre.
Duties:

(a) Provide procurement support and advice to the admin team and the research project teams;

(b) Serve as a Centre Buyer for handling procurement cases;
(c) Handle information flow, update and maintain an effective and accurate record system;
(d) Provide administrative support to a wide range of matters pertinent to CEVR;
(e) Liaise with internal and external parties, and handle enquiries;
(f) Assist in performing daily accounting functions and month-end closing;
(g) Perform any other duties as assigned by CEO and Scientific Director as well as COO and
Deputy Scientific Director of CEVR and/or their delegates.

Qualifications:

Applicants should:

(a) have a recognised degree with at least two years of working experience in procurement and administration (Experience in handling government funded projects in tertiary institutes would be an advantage);

(b) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in
Putonghua would be an advantage;

(c) have hands-on computer skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Chinese word processing;

(d) have good communication and interpersonal skills;

(e) be a good team player, and be proactive and dedicated to work; (f) have a positive can-do attitude;

(g) student member of HKICPA/ACCA or other relevant professional bodies would be an advantage; and

(h) be willing to work outside normal office hours as deemed necessary.
