Organisation Background:Centre for Eye and Vision Research Limited (CEVR) is a research collaboration between The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the University of Waterloo (UW) in Canada under the InnoHK initiative. It is located at the Hong Kong Science Park, Pak Shek Kok, New Territories. The centre operates a clinical and a wet laboratory which houses cell culture, animal experimentation, mass spectrometry and other clinical facilities in eye research. Ground-breaking research in five key areas – myopia and eye growth, ocular drug discovery and delivery, vision enhancement, tear film and ocular surface and advanced optometric technology will be carried out in the lab. The mission of CEVR is to generate technologies to prevent vision loss in the aging population and preserve healthy vision.
The appointee will report directly to the Centre Senior Manager and perform various functions supporting the administration of CEVR.
Duties

  • provide administrative support to a wide range of matters pertinent to the CEVR;
  • assist in performing end-to-end recruitment process from advertising, sourcing, screening, interview arrangement, offer proposal to new appointee on-boarding;
  • provide secretarial service to committees and working groups;
  • coordinate various quality assurance exercise e.g. internal audit, inventory control, safety inspection…etc.;
  • liaise with internal and external parties, and handle enquiries; and
  • perform any other duties as assigned by CEO and Scientific Director as well as COO and Deputy Scientific Director of CEVR and/or their delegates.
Qualifications:

Applicants should:

  • a recognised degree; preference will be given to graduates from human resource (HR) and business administration;
  • at least five years of relevant post-qualification experience with a good track record in administration duties; preference will be given to HR experience
  • good knowledge in Employment Ordinance and Human Resources practices in Hong Kong;
  • an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage;
  • the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
  • good problem-solving skills and computer literacy, including Chinese word processing, PowerPoint and Excel;
  • willing to work outside normal office hours as deemed necessary and;
  • exceptional analytical, organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently within a team.
