CEVR is delighted to announce its collaboration with Hoya Vision Care and extends its heartfelt appreciation for their generous sponsorship of HK$1.2 million worth of myopia eyeglass lenses and frames. Myopia is a serious international health concern and is a research focus within CEVR. The myopia research partnership with HOYA that we are celebrating today will significantly advance eye and vision health in Hong Kong and around the world.
This invaluable support will be instrumental in fueling a groundbreaking two-year clinical research project titled “The Influence of Baseline Relative Peripheral Refractions in Myopia Control using Myopic Defocus.” The primary objective of this project is to enhance and refine techniques for effectively managing myopia in children, with a shared commitment to safeguarding their long-term eye health.
Mr. George KWAN , Managing Director of HOYA Lens Hong Kong Limited and HOYA Lens Taiwan Limited says, “HOYA Vision Care & Poly U successfully developed the patented Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (D.I.M.S.) technology which is a simple, safe, effective, and non-invasive way to slow the progression of short-sightedness in children. In the new clinical study with CEVR, HOYA Vision Care is offering about 240 pairs of glasses to participating children in total market value HK$1.2 million. We hope our in-kind donation will encourage participation, strengthen the validity of the study and identify children more prone to effective myopia control by DIMS lense.’’
