RP1.2s Project title: Anti-Myopia Electronic Displays: Making Screens Eye-Safe for Children

Project information: This project is to make digital-device screens that are eye-safe for children by counteracting the screen-based signals that contribute to the onset and progression of myopia.

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in one or more of the following areas:

Duty:
- Carry out clinical data collection in CEVR’s studies, including eye and optometric examination
- Familiar with operating and interpreting results from optometric instruments (e.g. OCT, OCT-A, Anterior OCT, Corneal Topography, Visual   Field, Binocular Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, dilated fundus examination, I-Care Tonometry, Ocular Biometry, Slit Lamp, Refraction)

- Input and analyze data
- Assist preparation of publication

RP3.4s Project title: 

Detection of Macular Degeneration and Myopia-Induced Retinal Damage Using Structured Light Technology: A Novel Approach Supporting Early Intervention for Vision Preservation

This project aims to develop a novel, non-invasive optical instrument utilizing structured light technology to detect early signs of macular degeneration and retinal damage caused by myopia. By leveraging advanced optical patterns, the project seeks to identify subtle biomarkers of retinal health that are often missed by conventional imaging. The goal is to translate this technology into a clinical tool that supports early diagnosis and intervention, ultimately preserving vision in aging and myopic populations.

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in one or more of the following areas:

• Optical Engineering & Physics: Experience with structured light illumination, interferometry, optical system design, and image processing.
• Vision Science & Ophthalmology: Knowledge of retinal biology, ocular disease models (myopia/AMD), and clinical study protocols.
• Software & Instrumentation: Proficiency in programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++) for hardware control and algorithm development.

We are building a multidisciplinary team to bridge the gap between optical physics and clinical application. We are seeking candidates to contribute to the following phases:

1. Research Design & Experimental Setup

• Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to define state-of-the-art methodologies.
• Assist in study design, protocol development, and ethics application submissions.
• Design and construct experimental setups to test structured light models.

2. Instrument & Algorithm Development

• Lead the hardware and software development of the innovative structured light instrument.
• Develop algorithms for the reconstruction and analysis of retinal response data.
• Optimize the instrument for sensitivity and specificity in detecting retinal damage.

3. Validation, Analysis & Translation

• Conduct model testing and data collection using the developed prototype.
• Perform rigorous statistical analysis of experimental data.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication and assist in the commercialization of the invention, including IP protection and technology transfer.

• Assist PIs in supervising the research team and managing project execution.
• Lead day-to-day monitoring of R&D activities, ensuring alignment with project milestones and KPIs.
• Coordinate communication among team members, including PI, Co-PI, Co-Investigators, research fellows, research associates, and research assistants.
• Facilitate progress reviews, reporting, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify risks, bottlenecks, and resource needs, and propose mitigation strategies.
• With delegation from PI, the RPM shall approve purchase requests from research teammates for items required in project execution.
• Promote a collaborative and productive research environment.

Requirements:

• Current or former Co-principal investigator or Co-Investigator in CEVR with deep familiarity with the project (please indicate your prior engagement in CEVR in the CV)
• At least 2 years of experience (part-time or full-time) in supervising or co-supervising projects in CEVR
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in project management.
• Good proficiency in the English language, a bonus for a candidate who can speak and write Chinese

To develop the next generation of non-invasive brain stimulation technologies and protocols to enable optimal rehabilitation of vision across a range of eye and brain disorders that affect sight.

To develop ocular organoids and cells-on-a-chip models that can be marketed to pharmaceutical companies to enable rapid and low-cost testing of new therapeutics. RP2.5s Project title: Integrated Dry Eye Diagnosis and Precision Therapies

This project is to advance clinical Dry Eye Disease (DED) biomarker detection, diagnosis, and treatment. This will be achieved through an interdisciplinary approach that encompasses cutting-edge molecular studies, clinical trials tailored to Chinese populations, and the development of innovative devices and technologies from a multidisciplinary team. The goal is to establish evidence-based, precision diagnosis and therapies for DED.

RP3.2s Project title: Non-Invasive Tear-Based Diagnostic System

To establish the metabolomic and proteomic profiles of tear fluid as a tool for non-invasive diagnosis and monitoring of ocular disease. The project will develop non-invasive in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) and point-of-care tear analysis tests (POCT).

The appointees will assist the project leaders in the research project: “Non-Invasive Tear-Based Diagnostic System”.  The tasks include project development, study design/protocol, ethics application, experimental setup, literature research, model testing, project development, hardware and software development for innovative instrument, data collection, data analysis and preparation of manuscript.  The talent is also required to assist commercialization of the invention whenever applicable.

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow posts should have a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification in Vision Science, Optometry, Ophthalmology, Materials Science & Engineering, Health Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cheminformatics, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Proteomics/Metabolomics, Analytical Chemistry/Mass Spectrometry, or other related disciplines.

RP3.3s Project title: Development of New-Generation Contact Lenses Using Novel Materials and Additive Manufacturing

To combine advanced material design with state-of-the-art 3D printing technology to enable the affordable production of personalized and/or specialized contact lenses with a sustained ocular drug delivery feature through on-demand manufacturing.

RP3.4S Project title: Detection of Macular Degeneration and Myopia-Induced Retinal Damage Using Structured Light Technology: A Novel Approach Supporting Early Intervention for Vision Preservation

To harness recent breakthroughs in the application of structured light to vision health to enable: 1) objective macular polarity imaging for the detection of age-related macular degeneration; and 2) structured light vision testing for the detection of retinal degeneration caused by myopia.

Required skills and job duty

The appointee will report directly to the Marketing Manager and perform functions

supporting the marketing and media creation activities of CEVR. He/She will be required to:

• Be responsible for creative concept development and handling all stages of design such as social media visual designs, infographics and animated shorts, video shooting and editing, Photography, photo retouching and mock-ups, brochures, POP, flyers, EDM, Booth Design, etc.
• Support marketing initiatives with creative ideas and solutions.
• Support technical campaigns and events.
• Oversee creative design initiatives and coordinate with external partners.
• Assist in updating website content
• Support asking for a quotation on marketing materials, and coordinate the whole process
• Perform ad-hoc projects/ duties as assigned by the CEO and Scientific Director, as well as COO and Deputy Scientific Director of CEVR and/or their delegates.

Applicants should have:

1. Relevant diploma or bachelor’s in multimedia design, graphic design, creative media, advertising, or related fields with at least 3 years of experiences
2. Ability to conceptualize and create design content.
3. Experienced in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere, Canvas etc.
4. Experienced in using AI software ( Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, Runway, etc.) to facilitate the design process is a plus.
5. Strong artistic sense and marketing
6. Ability to conceptualize and create design content
7. Knowledge of 3D animation is a plus
8. Good team player, multi-tasking, willing to learn, open-minded, and highly responsible
9. Pro-active attitude and ability to work independently and able to meet tight deadlines.
10. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
